Three Steps to Changing Your Address with USCIS

Author: Angelita Chavez

Foreign nationals in the United States (US) are required to file a Form AR-11 Change of Address within 10 days of a move.

Three Easy Steps to Change Your Address with USCIS:

  1. Log onto (create your account) your MYUSCIS on-line account

  2. Complete the on-line Form AR-11 Form with your old and new contact information

    • For pending cases with USCIS - Include all Receipt Numbers

    • Provide an e-mail for your submission confirmation

    • Review the form for accuracy before you submit

  3. Submitting Form AR-11 via USPS: Those without on-line access to their MYUSCIS account can still submit a Form AR-11 Change of Address via US Postal Service. Just download your Form AR-11 going directly to the USCIS website.

The Form AR-11 Changes of Address is Required for the Following:

  • Nonimmigrant visa status holders such as F1 or M students and their dependent spouses and children

  • H or L status visa holders including their dependent spouses and children

  • DACA recipients

  • U-Visa applicants and grantees

  • Applicants for lawful permanent residents and lawful permanent residents

  • Asylees/refugees

  • Individuals with pending cases before USCIS

The above is not an exhaustive list. Certain foreign nationals may also be required to notify changes of address directly to a Service Center and/or the immigration court. Always consult with an experienced immigration attorney to understand the requirements in your particular situation.
